After an intense search, the agents located the vehicle with its four occupants, fortunately in good health. The evacuation was carried out in two helicopter transfers, always with the company of the rescuers, to the La Noguera heliport.

But the work of the Civil Guard did not end there. The rescued family reported that another group of seven people was waiting for them at the Prado del Conde shelter, including two minors and an adult over 60 years of age with mobility problems. The lack of communication with this second group generated even more concern.

Without hesitation, the GREIM agents entered the mountain again, this time in search of the seven missing people. After several kilometers of walking, they managed to find two other vehicles trapped with their occupants. The joy of the meeting was mixed with the urgency of ensuring their evacuation.

The transfer of this second group to the air evacuation area was especially complicated due to the extreme weather conditions and the mobility problems of the elderly. The accumulated snow, which reached up to 50 centimeters thick in some areas, made progress difficult.

Despite the challenges, GREIM agents managed to get everyone to a safe location, where they could be evacuated. Fortunately, none of those rescued needed to be transferred to a medical center, which confirmed the success of the operation.

In the last few hours, the Civil Guard has also had to rescue a family trapped in the car, on the Las Navas del Marqués road (Ávila). A minor and a person with reduced mobility were also traveling in the vehicle. Fortunately, in this case the rescue also arrived on time and, once they were safe, no member of the vehicle needed medical attention.

These road rescues remind us of the importance of taking weather forecasts seriously and, when advised, avoiding going out even if it means losing our weekend reservation. Prudence and prevention are the best tools to avoid risky situations in the mountains.
