In Moto2, the dynamics could be different. “At first I think it will be necessary to follow someone a little to learn,” he admits, but he is confident that this process will allow him to continue improving. “Thanks to this process I have also managed to improve a lot as a rider, knowing how to handle the bike better and in what aspects I should continue improving.”
The experience of riding alone has taught him to manage situations better and prepare for a heavier bike. “I think all of this is going to be very useful for me. In a new category it is always necessary to keep learning, especially at the beginning, and we will have to look at others to take steps forward,” he says.
An Unexpected Title and a Heart Attack Finale in Indonesia
The victory in Indonesia, marked in red on his calendar, became the scene of his proclamation as Moto3 world champion. However, the end was abrupt, marked by a red flag. “Yes, I knew I was champion the moment I saw the red flag,” he says. “During the race I always tried to stay in the top three and, in fact, I don't remember ever going above fourth position.”
Strategy and knowledge of his rivals' situation allowed him to secure the title. “I knew that my main rival was seventh or eighth, which was just the limit I needed to be champion if I finished in the top three.” Despite the strangeness of the outcome, Rueda enjoyed it intensely. “It was a bit of a strange ending, because being crowned champion with a red flag is not the most exciting thing. When I arrived at the parc ferme there was no one and it was a pretty strange situation. Even so, I really enjoyed it.”
Moto2: The Labyrinth of Competitiveness

Rueda is aware of this. “I think that in Moto2 there are many riders with a lot of experience within the category,” he points out. “Also, the bikes are very similar to each other, which makes it very difficult to make that small difference necessary to be in front.
