This sporting success has launched an ambitious restructuring strategy at the club's top leadership, led by Jim Ratcliffe, the head of sports management. According to information from the prestigious English newspaper 'The Sun', the 'Red Devils' board has identified several “expendable stars” whose transfer will generate crucial income for the future project.

Two names resonate strongly in this exit operation: Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Højlund. The English attacker, currently on loan at Barcelona, has a purchase option agreed for 30 million euros, which expires in June. The final decision falls on the Barça coffers. For his part, the young Danish forward, on loan at Naples, seems to have a more defined destiny. If the Italian club secures their presence in the Champions League, something that is almost taken for granted given their comfortable third position with an eight-point lead, they will be forced to shell out 44 million euros for Højlund.

The transferable list extends to other proper names. Manuel Ugarte, signed in 2024 for 50 million euros from PSG, has failed to convince at Old Trafford. United would be willing to accept offers lower than the initial investment for the Uruguayan midfielder. A sale at a loss for Joshua Zirkzee is also not ruled out, another of the footballers who arrived in 2024 for 42 million euros, and for whom lower offers will be accepted.

Goalkeeper André Onana is not immune to the restructuring either. The Cameroonian goalkeeper, on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, will return to Manchester this summer, but not to defend the Old Trafford goal. Added to these sales operations are the departures of players whose contracts expire in June. Casemiro, Jadon Sancho (currently on loan at Aston Villa) and Tyrell Malacia will end their time at United as free agents.
