Spain closed the Tokyo World Cup with a fifth position in the medallero with the three medals obtained from the march, the two golds of María Pérez and the bronze of Paul McGrath. “The march is a strut of our athletics and that is why they are the ones that take the most resources from the Federation,” said the national coach, Pepe Peiró. In addition to the three podiums, Spain obtained 13 finalist positions in total, eight of them marchers.

The overall point for points was not bad and this World Cup would leave as the fifth best result of Spain in this championship, only behind Budapest, Paris, Edmonton and Seville.

The kings of the medallero were the United States with 26 medals -16 of gold-, followed by Kenya with 11 metals and Canada with 5 -Tres oros-. At European level, the Netherlands commanded the table with six medalls thanks to the success of Femke Bol. Sweden, meanwhile, also triumphed with three medals.
